Vision
The Commonwealth
Centre for e-Governance (CCfEG) looks forward to a world in which
traditional notions of government, government transactions and
democracy are enhanced and/or reinvented through the deployment
of electronic methods:
as
a vision for the civil service, businesses and citizens working
together for their mutual benefit, using information and communication
technologies as a tool to achieve higher performance in service
delivery, giving rise to the practical notions of electronic government
(eGovernment) and government electronic business (eBusiness) ;
as a vision for social reform, involving a paradigm shift in the
mind sets of the individual and the community; changes in organisations,
systems and structures; and re-alignments in the modes of education
and training, to mention a few, to capture the full benefits of
the new information technologies, giving rise to the wider concept
of electronic business (eBusiness);
as a vision for collective options of choice in the sharing of
information & ideas and management of knowledge as part of
citizen participation and empowerment in public life, giving rise
to the practical notion of electronic democracy (eDemocracy).
